Occupational Health and Safety
Currently in Australia the emphasis of health and safety
regulation is individual accountability1. This
means that everyone within a workplace has responsibilities
appropriate to their particular involvement and functions.
Whilst this responsibility is heaviest for Directors and Managers,
everyone needs to play their part.
Implementing a system to assist people to identify and resolve
hazards in a proactive manner, backed up by a means of documenting
and reviewing your OH&S, is a vital step in protecting
your people and your business.
Office Safety
The office environment is often seen as safe and therefore
there is no need to worry about it.
Unfortunately a significant number of injuries do still occur
in this environment - particularly back injuries caused by
incorrectly lifting or moving items, and injuries relating
to ergonomics.
It is also important to ensure walkways are clear so they
can be readily accessed in an emergency, and that tripping
hazards are removed.
“With your help, we now have a document which has
enabled everyone to become aware of potential problems,
and to understand that as well as the business; they too
as an individual have a responsibility to ensure the environment
is safe for everyone.
Thank you for providing us with easy to use documents that
will require minimal changes when we move premises. May
I also express my appreciation for your support in implementing
these documents.
I feel that we are now in control of the OH&S of our
company and that we have the ability to successfully manage
any potential issues that may arise.”

for several years I was particularly pleased to see the
comprehensive nature of the material you had put in place.”
